An hour a week

Are you getting to the gym? Why not? With only one hour a week, you can see some amazing benefits.

Going to the gym twice a week for 30 minutes each time you can reduce your risk of metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is a collection of symptoms that increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. These symptoms include being overweight, high blood pressure, high blood sugar and increased waist circumference.

These benefits are independent of aerobic exercise. Even if you run, ride, swim or walk regularly you can’t get the same benefits.

Resistance training, getting to the gym, improves bone health, reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes and now we know it prevents metabolic syndrome.

Researchers studied almost 7500 middle-aged men and women from 1987 to 2006. The participants that went to the gym for an hour a week reduced the risk of metabolic syndrome by 29%.

Doing both, aerobic and resistance training provided the greatest benefits for health. The lead author of the study, Esmee Bakker said in Mayo Clinic Proceedings,

It is easy. Even if you don’t go to the gym.You can do a resistance training workout anywhere! shaylasays-c2a0sample-interval-workout

Not only does strength training prevent disease it helps to maintain balance as you age and helps maintain better body mechanics. It improves running and cycling efficiency, you use less effort and get the same results. Strength training improves your mood and boosts energy levels

I think that is worth one hour a week.

Change your mind, change your health,

Shayla
