Getting fit has long lasting benefits

IMG_1266

Being fit as in your 30s, 40s and 50s helps to extend your life and prevents chronic illness later. New research proves that being fit not only delays the inevitable, but lowers the onset of chronic disease. Improving your fitness by 20% decreases the risk of chronic disease by 20% decades later! The fittest individuals aged the best having the fewest chronic illnesses in the final 5 years of life and the results were the same for men and women. This study proved that exercising for 2.5 hours of moderate to intense aerobic activity per week reduced the chances of chronic illness in the last 5 years of life.

We know that exercise prevents osteoporosis, back pain, Type 2 Diabetes, heart disease, stroke, as well as having psychological benefits. Exercise increases brain activity and makes you more productive, helps to reduce stress and increases your ability to function daily. But those benefits were only thought to be immediate, not like a health savings plan where the benefits could be realized decades later.

Change your mind, change your health,

Shayla
