3 Good Reasons to Exercise

Exercise benefits every age

No time?

“I have no time” is the number one excuse that people give for not exercising.

What exactly does this mean?

No time for improved general health? Fitness? Stress relief? Weight management? Maintaining your brain health? Increasing muscle mass? Improved bone density? Improved academic performance? Reduced blood pressure? Improved aerobic efficiency? Increased energy? Improved mood? Reduced risk of chronic disease? Improved health span? Better sleep?

You get the idea. There are so many good reasons to exercise.

Maybe you currently exercise.

You might do it because it feels good, or it’s the only time you have to yourself, or it’s a habit, or you are training for an event.

There is no good or bad reason to exercise. What counts is that you have a reason.

When you have a personal, meaningful reason you are more likely to fit it in. Do it even when you don’t feel like it. Do the things you don’t love doing – but like the results of doing them.

Having a personal reason matters more than anything else.

There have been a number of studies recently that reinforce many of the reasons to make exercise a priority.

Here are three good reasons to exercise.

prevent cancer with lifestyle change

  2. Regular exercise can treat and prevent symptoms of depression. New research suggests that stopping exercise increases symptoms of depression as soon as one week after no exercise.
  3. Women who are physically fit at 50 are 90% less likely to develop dementia.  Adding more research to the idea that are brain’s vascular system is healthier with exercise and the progression of the disease happens over time.

Your reason to exercise.

It doesn’t matter if your reason to exercise is to look better, to feel better, to improve your health or your fitness. What matters is that you do it. And one last study about exercise has more good news when it comes to improving your health it doesn’t matter if it is sporadic or regular, short or long duration. What matters is that you just do it.
