A study published in the journal Appetite has shown that moderation has quite a range of interpretations and the more you enjoy food, the more forgiving that definition could be. We are not that good at estimating how much we eat or how we view moderation. The researchers showed that the more we like a food, the more of it we think we can eat, in moderation.
When trying to lose weight you are more likely to be successful if you put some constraints around what you eat and how much. That is why diets, good or bad, work.
