Boost your immunity

I hate being sick

I have spent all weekend inside feeling terrible. It was a beautiful weekend and I missed all of it.

I blame the man for being sick, he had it first. He says he felt much worse because it has been scientifically proven that the man flu is more severe... I have repeatedly reminded him that this very small study was done by a man.

His response,  “science”

In keeping with the science of immune response, you can improve your immunity by eating lots of fruits and vegetables and by regularly eating nutritional yeast.

The beta glucan fiber found in nutritional yeast has been shown to reduce the chances of getting the common cold by 25% if you eat a half a spoonful daily.

Unfortunately, nutritional yeast also may contain lead.

California has the strictest standards for how much lead can be in food with 0.5 micrograms per serving, the FDA will allow up to 2.0 micrograms per day. Bragg’s one of the few companies willing to share their results had only 0.01 micrograms per serving

Food can improve your immune system.

You can also boost your immune function by eating cooked white mushrooms and getting at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day.

Eating foods high in Vitamin C, like red peppers, papayas and brussels sprouts. Foods with Vitamin E, like almonds, sunflower seeds and broccoli. Foods high in Vitamin A, carrots, sweet potato and cantaloupe.

These are all great ways to improve your immunity and limit your sick time, whether it is a terrible “man flu” or just the regular varierty.

Change your mind, change your health,
