
Applesauce Cake
An easy and delicious apple cake recipe that can be modified with extras to make it yours.
Equipment
- 1 square baking dish
- 1 mixing bowl
- 1 mixing bowl for liquids
- 1 measuring cup
- 1 whisk or hand mixer
- parchment paper
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp cloves
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp ground flax
- 6 tbsp warm water
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup applesauce
- 1 cup sugar
Optional Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup walnuts or pecans
- 1/4 cup cranberries
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup raisins
Instructions
- Place 2 tbsp ground flax in a small bowl and add 6 tbsp water and let sit.
- Preheat oven to 350
- Line a square baking dish with parchment paper
- Place flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg in large bowl and mix well.
- In a large measuring cup add applesauce, vanilla, olive oil and sugar. Then add flax mixed with water and stir.
- Add wet ingredients into dry and mix well by hand, or with a mixer.
- Add any optional ingredients
- Pour into pan and bake for 50-60 minutes
